Great Notley parkrun

David Watson, Volunteered at Gt Notley park run as timekeeper, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and urge anyone who hasn’t previously volunteered to give it a go, it’s great fun.

Rob Hankey, Great to see lots of TRR faces at Great Notley. I was a 23min pacer and helped with setup. Michelle was volunteering giving out Finish Tokens. 00:23:01

Jayne vernon, “My name is JAYNE 🤣 😀 3rd in my age category – that made me happy .Great to see other TRR runners .Fantastic support as always”00:29:57

Annabel Marriott, Slightly quick in pacing 38 mins but not too bad. Good to see TRR out in force and particularly impressed with Michelle who managed to both marshal and hand out finish tokens! 00:37:50

Markshall parkrun

Morven Hurding, “1st event since Xmas Day and it felt so good to just go for a run and see the smiley faces of Phil, Emma, Malcolm, Katy, Kath & Ian.

Being out injured for 5 months really really sucks.! Losing the speed, endurance & fitness is tough. Although not being able to participate in training, races, parkruns and social runs has been hardest. Those who’ve been injured know. So I was delighted knee held up without much jip. Here’s hoping this is the beginning of a gradual come back.”

Haga Parkrun, Stockholm

Lynda Rayner, After messing up on the trains to get to park run, the Uber then dropping me the other side of the park, no one knowing where the park run started, I ran about 2 k, at speed, to get to the start arriving at 9.28 (park run started at 9.30!) it was really hot and I walked a few times so was surprised my time wasn’t much slower. Beautiful park to run in though. 00:32:05

Kingston parkrun

Edward Skinner, 2nd vet 65. Best 5 k for a few years. 00:24:57

Stockholm Marathon

Nicole Rayner, SORRY IN ADVANCE MARK! If this was my first marathon, it would certainly be my last. The worst race I have ran to date.  Starting at mid day in 27 degrees was brutal, and with double the elevation of London and tripple the elevation of Amsterdam I wasn’t mentally prepared with how tough it would be. My goal was a sub 4, and I was on pace and in high spirits up until mile 13 but at around mile 15 I was ready to call it a day. I messaged my Grp 3 buddies and the support I received was phenomenal, I have never experienced anything quite like it in my life. I am eternally grateful for you all! Without the support of TRR and my parents it would have most certainly been a DNF. I was an emotional wreck (as usual) and reading the messages gave me the push I needed to carry on. It was far from the race I wanted but it was an experience that taught me so much and one I will always remember.  It wasn’t an official PB, as I crossed the line 27.15 miles later, a few seconds after my Amsterdam time but if strava says it was (unofficial 4:12:18) then i’m taking it! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU TRR!!!

Training Thursday,

Social group trail run and buffet from the Swan in Little Totham.

Runner of the month for May.

Men

This gentleman can be seen most Saturday morning volunteering at Great Notley parkrun. He has also been supporting Michelle on her road to recover, to be able to run again. And nice to see she is making good progress.

He has also been the PA at M5k, and is working on the T10 getting everything ready for this years race.

He always steps forward to be run leader support on Tuesday nights, and will always run with someone that might be struggling on the night (usually without being asked)

He does manage to fit in some Running between all this.

Running his 1st marathon at Halstead on a very hot day, he finished just outside of his 4hr goal, but did pick up a County team medal on the day! Male ROM winner is………………………………

Rob Hankey

Ladies,

Struggling with her lung capacity for more than six months without any meaningful medical diagnosis and comparing her running to full fitness, this lady’s running confidence had been badly dented in 2023 and early 2024.

Then spring sprung and with a different mindset to focus on what she was able to run that day, a birthday that took her into the next age category and testing out racing at the Road Relays and Bentley Half the ascent in her performance started beautifully. Working hard at TRR training and always dedicated to her strength and conditioning work, she’s made a wonderful come back to fabulous form.

May hit and – Boom! So did she! And, with her form, her self-belief too.

After running her heart out at the hot Colchester 10k achieving gold standard and club record times, victory was snatched when the race results were declared short due to the lead cyclists error.

She got knocked down. She got up again and, describing herself as pig-headed, the very next Saturday ran The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 10k in an even faster time than the week before, an official club record and gold standard to rightfully claim her 10k crown.

An enthusiastic member of the Run Leading team and known for her legendary stretches our fiercely determined G3 female ROM winner for May is………………………………..

Sally Banyard! 😊
