Quick Questions

What got you into running?

I used to play rugby for my local club, but after an injury forced me to stop for a while, I took up running to maintain my fitness. It has become my go-to for both my physical and mental wellbeing ever since.

What are you most proud of in your running?

I’m really proud to be a TRR member. Whether I’m out on a social run with my mates or wearing my club vest at events, I know I have the support and encouragement to keep doing what I love with a highly regarded club. As a working mum, running gives me rare time that’s just for me. An hour spent chatting with fellow members helps me switch off from everyday life, relieve stress and return home feeling that I’ve worked hard but refreshed.

When did you join Tiptree Road Runners?

2023.

What is your favourite training session?

I love all of our training sessions because of the variety, but my favourite has to be mixed trail runs, exploring our local village at a social chatty pace and distance.

Favourite race you’ve run?

My favourite race to date is the Lakeland Trail Dirty Double in Helvellyn 2008. At the time it was a 2-day event which had you running through the peaks and past lakes, just a stunning part of the country, running allows you to discover.

Most memorable run or performance?

I think it might have to be the Edinburgh Marathon in 2009. It was a scorcher at 27 degrees and my best time…..I think I was a camel in my previous life 😊

Favourite race distance?

I’m really enjoying a 10K and 10 miles at the moment, slightly faster than a half but still allows me to chat and not feel like my wheels are falling off.

Do you prefer racing or social running?

I love a social but signing up for an event really keeps you motivated to train and work on your pace. The event medal and goodie bags at the end are also an extra bonus 😊

Who inspires you at the club?

I’m inspired by all the legends at the club. Those taking their first steps into running and being brave enough to try something new, to those achieving challenges they may have thought impossible, returning stronger from setbacks, and sharing their knowledge and passion to help others grow.

Favourite place to run locally?

Anywhere local that involves trees, fields and spotting our local wildlife. It brings variety and excitement when exploring our beautiful countryside.

One word that describes TRR?

Empowering.
