Mark Lawes

Mark is a Leader in Running Fitness (LiRF) and Run Leader for Group 4 at Tiptree Road Runners. Mark also serves as the club’s Chairman. He supports members both on training nights and behind the scenes.

What got you into running?
I had always run when I was younger to keep fit.
What are you most proud of in your running?
My daughter, Mia, being ranked in the top 10 in the UK for 1500m in her age group
When did you join Tiptree Road Runners?
2012… and the rest, as they say, is history.
What is your favourite training session?
West End Road pyramid session.
Favourite race you’ve run?
The Peak District Dig Deep 50k with some amazing people. And any cross-country race, anywhere!
Most memorable run or performance?
The Wix 5, where I ran 32:30. I was on fire after turning 50!
Favourite race distance?
50k trail.
Do you prefer racing or social running?
I do like racing. Sometimes I still feel I can be competitive with those around me.
Who inspires you at the club?
Lots of members inspire me, from those who join as complete beginners to those who go on to run marathons.. And our older members continue to show that age is no barrier.
Favourite place to run locally?
Pods/Layer woods. Little Baddow/Danbury.
One word that describes TRR?
Inclusive.
