Runner of the Month – May 2026

Female Winner

Some people enjoy a gentle jog, Others think running up hills is a bit of a slog.
But one runner headed for the Peaks, undeterred, To tackle a 50km Ultra — which sounds quite absurd!
For 9 hours, 50 minutes and 36 seconds she ran, across trails, hills and whatever nature had planned.
At the finish she smiled and made this plea: “Possibility that my quads will never forgive me!”
She’s also there helping at parkrun when she can, Supporting runners with the same enthusiasm.
So, for grit, determination and going the extra mile, This month’s winner has done it in style.
May’s Female Runner of the Month is Annabel Marriott!

Male Winner

These two runners set themselves a huge challenge and approached it with dedication, discipline, and determination. Following a structured marathon training plan, they put in the miles week after week and trusted the process.

That hard work paid off at the Copenhagen Marathon, where both completed their first-ever marathon in impressive style. Both achieved TRR Silver Standards, with one finishing in 3:19 and the other coming within six minutes of breaking the coveted sub-3-hour barrier. Outstanding performances for two marathon debutants.

Away from training and racing, they have also given back to the club by helping out at the Maldon 5k Series.

A fantastic achievement and a fitting reward for months of commitment, consistency, and hard work. Our male Runners of the Month are the Father-and-son duo, Simon and Marcus Peters.
