Kent Challenge 50

Andrew Goodson, I battled wind, rain, toilet issues, having to run across bogs in road shoes, falling over and quite a couple of weeks with William in intensive care with respiratory failure. During the race William was discharged from Great Ormond Street and I spread cheer to all on the course. All in all, a lovely day out!  Coming in under is goal of 10hr in 9:38:17.

London land marks half.

Lee Kerrison, Chairman’s elevation challenge 492ft, and a club std in 01:42:30.

Rob Hankey, An enjoyable and rare chance to run the streets of London with my better half, Michelle. Route wasn’t the most interesting and it wasn’t cheap to enter, but the medal, t-shirt and goody bag were decent.

Michelle Edwards, Lovely run around London with Rob , lovely medal , T-shirt and goody bag , just when I thought I had the elevation for this one who popped up but Lee kerrison 😂 200 ft elevation and 36ft elevation for parkrun

Both finishing,  01:57:29

Saltmarsh Half Marathon

Alan Hurding, In his 1st half marathon. 3rd in my age group and 48th over all. Very wind and muddy. Thanks Sharon for the buff. 02:16:59

Nicole Rayner, VERY MUDDY! 02:45:00

Julia Bawden, Another muddy event! Somehow managed to achieve 266 ft ascent for the Chairman’s Challenge even though it’s flat 🤷🏼‍♀️ (that’s not an April’s Fools joke either!) 03:18:36

Alison Peace, 03:18:37

Sharon Hardwicke, 03:18:38

Sue long, “Elevation 485ft, First time I have done this event. I really liked it. Hard on your legs though as quite narrow, muddy and slippery in places. Added bonus it didn’t rain and the sun even came out at times.” 03:25:29

Anita Leaver, I think technically that it was a DNF as I broke my leg at mile 13 by slipping in the mud and falling down the embankment.  Stuart Peace and Al Beard carried me over the finish line.  I cannot thank them enough!

We all wish her a speedy recovery.

Runner of the month for March.

Ladies: –

This lady has shown amazing progression with her running over recent months. Last month, her commitment to her marathon training is clearly paying off. She smashed a pb at half marathon time, knocking 4mins off to achieve a sub 2hr time and a silver standard. She also achieved another silver by smashing a sub 24min parkrun pb, too.

A great advocate to the “TRR giving back,” a great Gp2 RLS, always supportive and encouraging. Outside of the club, her giving back continues with her dedication and commitment in delivering us all a parkrun as RD at Markshall.

Katy Denny

This gentleman has put a lot of time and effort into training for the Grizzly this year. He completed a number of very specific sessions to be able to achieve his sub 4 hour Grizzly time. He was also brave enough to have it out there to act as an inspiration to others, plus he went out strongly on the day to achieve his goal. He has helped out regularly this month as Run Leader Support, has supported two other members of the Chairman’s challenge, he ran a great Colchester 15 time in difficult conditions and supports the club by producing the results for the chairman each week and feeds these into the club league tables. Quiet and unassuming, but epitomises everything that makes this club so special.

Stuart Peace.
