59 Katy Denny 02:06:25 17th lady so bagged a gold medal! Accidental half marathon PB by a couple of minutes too. Grateful for excellent team TRR support! My first 15 miler so is it a PB? and time was silver standard.
193 Simone Hilliard 02:09:51 Possibly the least muddy Benfleet I have ever done.  All was going well until my foot cramp from the night before returned and despite getting some speed back not enough to catch the 4 ladies who went past me.  5 seconds from gold…..  Great to see other TRR on course and provide encouragement to each other.
402 Scott Brenton 02:29:09
444 Stacy Hember 02:31:58 Course wasn’t as bad under foot but the wind was a bit strong near the water.
My stamina isn’t still very good, so I did cut off and did 11 miles instead. Lots of walking especially up those hills!
473 Lee Kerrison 02:36:01
537 Dave Cassin 02:44:08 My first 15 mile race for TRR, and my first Benfleet 15! Had a great race. It was quite muddy in places, and windy in others. Great support from everyone involved and fellow TRR race-mates. Great way to close out week 3 of my London Marathon training plan!!

Comment from Tim,

“After TRR dinner thought I now have my first full year ahead I should try and do as many events as I can and try all formats, so should give XC a try never did it in my first time at club as I played football on a Sunday in the winter. Now done all 4 Sunday Ness League events and they are getting tougher mud, hills, ditches, wind

BUT I LOVE IT, I won’t ever score for the team and although I know I could affect other teams score and that could benefit TRR even down the field by getting ahead of a scoring runner however that’s unlikely

buts just something about XC your part of a team the time doesn’t matter it’s your position the team camaraderie is amazing and that of fellow competitors whatever the club It may be different at the top end of the field however near the back we spur each other on just to get round.

For the record if you are looking for my parkrun time from Saturday, I travelled through the tunnel to South London to do fairly new parkrun along the Thames Path only for it to be called off for icy conditions. I waited 10 minutes for the icy to melt a bit and went for my own run along the Thames Path without doing the exact route and will have to come back again especially as I later found the curly wurly bit up to the top of the mound at one end and back down again”

Training Thursday

Totham trot with Angela, details will be on the Thursday whatsapp group.

HOWARD WILLIAMS’ TROPHY

Survey top of fb page.

It’s time to vote for the race which you think was the best organised in 2023, within the County of Essex.

The race must be completely on road and you have to consider the nuts and bolts of an efficiently organised race i.e. parking, changing facilities, signage, marshalling, results service, presentations, etc.
