A Guide to Submitting Your Results
Raced recently? Got a PB? Or simply enjoyed representing TRR at a running event?
Whenever you compete in a road race, trail event, cross country, or take part in a parkrun, please submit your result using the form on our website:
If you don’t submit your result, you won’t earn Club League points, and any PB, Club Record or Club Standard achievements won’t be recorded.
Please submit your results regularly, ideally after each event. This helps us keep the Club League and other records up to date and reduces the amount of administration involved. Submitting several months’ worth of results in one go means the league tables and other records may need to be updated retrospectively.
Any submitted results should include your official finishing time, rather than times recorded on watches or apps such as Strava or Runna.
Parish Notices
Submitted results can also be included in the weekly Parish Notices, presented at 19:15 every Tuesday before training and published on our website. See an example here.
Most weeks, a member of our team will also record the notices as a video. The video is posted to YouTube as an unlisted video and shared in our WhatsApp Community.
If you want your result included in that week’s Parish Notices, please submit it by 5pm on Monday.
The Monday deadline is primarily to allow time to prepare the Parish Notices. Results submitted after this time can still be recorded for Club League points and, where applicable, PBs, Club Records and Club Standards, but may not be included in that week’s Parish Notices.
If you’d rather your result wasn’t included on the website or video of Parish Notices, there is a checkbox at the bottom of the submission form to opt out.
Club League Points
Your results also contribute to the TRR Club League, which runs from November to October.
Points are awarded according to the distance of the event:
- parkruns, Great Run Local and 5k fun runs – 5 points
- 5k to 9.99 miles – 10 points
- 10 to 14.99 miles – 15 points
- 15 to 26.1 miles – 20 points
- Marathon to 29.99 miles – 30 points
- Over 30 miles – 40 points
There are also 10 bonus points for a PB and 10 points for a Club Record.
You can also earn 5 points for marshalling a club-backed event, such as parkrun takeovers, Maldon 5k marshalling or Tiptree 10 marshalling.
To earn Club League points, you must have competed as Tiptree Road Runners First Claim. If you represented another club during an event, select “No” on the Submit Results form.
You don’t need to work out your points yourself. Just submit your result and make sure you select the appropriate Event Category on the submission form as the Event Category tells us which Club League points category your event falls into. If you’re unsure which category to select, check the Club League Scoring Guide.
League points can be earned for all event types, subject to the scoring rules above.
If you appear on the official results as a DNF (Did Not Finish), League points are not awarded, even if a distance has been recorded. This can apply to events such as backyard ultras.
PBs and Club Records
If you achieve a PB or Club Record, please select the appropriate option when submitting your result.
PBs must be achieved while you are a TRR member. PBs and Club Records apply to road races and parkrun only. Results from trail, fell, cross country and similar events do not count towards PBs or Club Records.
Club Records and PBs are checked as part of the results process before being added to the relevant tables each month.
Club Standards
When submitting a result, it is your responsibility to check the Club Standards and select the appropriate option on the submission form if you think you have achieved one.
Club Standards apply to road races and parkrun only. Results from trail, fell, cross country and similar events do not count towards Club Standards.
The Club Standards Coordinator, Julia Bawden, will check the result and confirm that the standard has been correctly claimed, but the responsibility for identifying and claiming a standard sits with the runner.
If you’re not sure whether you’ve achieved a standard, just ask and we can check it for you.
