Southampton marathon.
Aaron Graves, After two good 20mile races i thought it was a good idea to enter a marathon and count them and the grizzly as training. After not running a road marathon since 2019 my memories of how hard they are had faded. So to say it was battle is an understatement 26.2 miles of hills and what seemed like head wind round every corner. Also running the first 5k in 18:52 probably wasn’t the brightest idea, i will do marathon training for the next one and have another go latter in the year maybe but came 8th and got a pb by 58 seconds. And a new club record in 02:48:51
Kerry Marsh, finished in 5hr 5min and 28 sec’s.
Essex champs road relays.
Sally 23:24 and Rachel, 25:35 and Angela 22:30, total time of 1hr 11min 30 sec.
Very happy to join the TRR team with Angela & Rachel at a very windy Sports Park! Great to find just a little bit of pace again. Running as V40 so in the wrong age category but we did ok considering.
London landmarks half
Sam Cheung, PB in 02:02:40
Salt Marsh Half Marathon
Frances Gridley, 03:24:59
Sue Long, I had a few problems with cramp about mile 11. At mile 13, I got slightly confused when I got into Ferry Road as part of it was covered in seaweed and water, I thought that can’t be the right way. I couldn’t see any other runners. So I turned round and saw some walkers who directed me to the finish which was at Burnham Marina. Apparently, I should have gone through the water and seaweed unfortunately there wasn’t any signage from the organisers to direct us through the high tide waters. My total mileage was 14.27 Miles in the end. 3:40:38

Runner of the month March.
Lady.
What a month! 2 PBs, 2 club records, 1 gold standard, 1 silver standard and 1 Essex champs gold medal.
She attended 3 of the TRR sessions in the month too! What an inspirational month of running…
And all that in the month before she raced a marathon (Brighton on Sunday 7th April).
An amazing month and inspiration to so many of us, by showing you can still get PBs, even if you’ve been running for a while. Lorraine “The Inspiration” Mills.
Men.
March kicked off well for this man, beginning the month with a big pb and bagging a hugely deserved 5th gold standard at the Cambridge Half Marathon. A goal he set himself and worked so very hard to achieve. We look forward to celebrating this again at the presentation evening later in the year when he’ll receive his 5th standard award.
Other runs of considerable note were his epic Grizzly 20 miler that definitely won ‘photo of the race’ if nothing else, pacing duties at Park Run and supporting other club members to pb’s.
Whilst his achievements are worthy of huge celebration, it is also his zest and enthusiasm for running that captures the hearts and minds of us all at TRR. There are many members in this club who give back (and some) but perhaps none more so than this man. He supports and encourages everything he sees, whether you’ve pb’d or not pb’d…. whether you’ve raced or out injured, or been for a casual run out for the first time in a while, he *always* has something good and positive to say.
This club wouldn’t be the same without him – we are delighted that his running achievements are matching all that he gives the club, and more….. Chris Gardiner.
